PROMO Brunch of Champions

The LGBTQ+ public policy and advocacy organization invites Missourians to a Sunday brunch that includes biscuit sandwiches from Honey Bee’s Biscuits and cocktails from 1220 Spirits

ST. LOUIS (April 10, 2023) — PROMO, Missouri’s LGBTQ+ public policy and advocacy organization, invites LGBTQ+ Missourians and all allies to its Brunch of Champions on Sunday, April 23 from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. hosted at 4 Hands Brewing Co. (1220 S 8th St, St. Louis, MO 63104). Supporters, business and community leaders, state legislators, and Missourians of all backgrounds are expected to be in attendance showing up in an act of resistance to stand in solidarity and strength against the 35 anti-LGBTQ+ bills moving through both the Missouri House and Senate. The event will also honor five LGBTQ+ advocates from across the state who have championed equality for the community throughout this year’s legislative session including Senator Greg Razer (D-7 Kansas City) for his persistent and strategic leadership in the Missouri Senate, Transformations in Kansas City for the organization’s work connecting and uplifting transgender women of color throughout the region, Dr. Matifadza Hlatshwayo Davis the Director of Health for the City of St. Louis Department of Health for modeling what it means to center marginalized populations in community health efforts, and Alan Easton for his decades of volunteer service. A brunch selection from Honey Bee’s Biscuits + Good Eats will be offered as well as an open bar featuring craft beer from 4 Hands Brewing Co. and cocktails from 1220 Spirits. Tickets are $125 per person and are on sale now through PROMO’s website.

“Brunch of Champions is normally a time for us to gather and celebrate our community and the work they have done during the legislative session,” said Lacie Jett, Director of Development. “However, this is the most dangerous legislative session we’ve seen in recent history with select politicians attacking transgender Missourians and, specifically, trans youth. This event is a way for people to be a part of our work to not only help us raise money to defend against the 35 anti-LGBTQ+ bills but also to raise awareness of why every single person in our state deserves to thrive and be exactly who they are.”

The Brunch of Champions food selection from Honey Bee’s includes new items this year. Attendees can choose from the restaurant’s well-known and beloved biscuits served with sausage or mushroom gravy, biscuit sandwiches such as sausage, bacon, or chorizo each topped with egg and cheese, fruit salad, roasted potatoes, or a slice of a X crustless quiche.

In addition to brunch and an award ceremony, ticket holders will hear an address from PROMO’s Executive Director, Katy Erker-Lynch, on where the current legislative climate stands and what is next as the organization continues to defend the rights of LGBTQ+ Missourians.
