3 Quick Actions: Defend Paid Sick Leave for All Missouri Workers

Lawmakers are trying to undo the will of the people by eliminating paid sick leave within Prop A. They believe paid sick time should only be available or used by those within a legal marriage or domestic partnership. Take action and defend paid sick leave for all Missouri workers.

Share Your Story

We’re asking you to share your stories focused on who your family is and the care you have provided or would need to provide should your loved one(s) fall ill — all to stress the point that regardless of how your home unit looks, all workers deserve job security granted by paid sick leave.

As we mentioned, HB 567 is a real threat and it is moving quickly. Our coalition partners, Missouri Jobs with Justice, are hosting power-hour virtual phone banks from 12-1 p.m. every Tuesday starting next week until the end of session to make sure your voices are heard.

Contact Two Senators

On Wednesday, April 23 at 10 a.m., the Senate Education Committee will hear HB 875 (R-Chappel). This bill would require universities and colleges to provide taxpayer funds to support all student groups, even those that adhere to a political, ideological, or religious belief AND use that belief to discriminate against students.

We’re asking you to email and call Senators Stephen Webber and Maggie Nurrenbern to (1) thank them for amending SB 160 the first time the Senate debated it, and (2) encourage them to amend HB 875 in committee before the Senate debates it.
