A Message from Our Trans & Nonbinary Staff & Board
Dear Community,
On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we gather to honor those we’ve lost—our ancestors who continue to guide us, carrying their strength within our own lives. This day isn’t just about grief; it’s about celebrating lives that continue to empower and inspire us to live fully and fearlessly.
In Missouri, we stand strong, showing up for one another in ways both visible and quiet. Our strength might not always be loud, but it’s powerful. It’s in our grassroots organizing, the connections we build, and the support that’s here whenever you need it. Each of us plays a part in this resilience.
To our younger TGNC family: your life only has to make sense to you. Embracing who you are is power in itself. Not everyone will understand, and that’s okay. Living openly, fully yourself, is a powerful act of resistance. You belong, and you matter. You are part of a legacy of resilience, and we’re here to support you as you take each step forward.
Our community’s strength often goes unseen but remains deeply rooted. This past year, we connected with people across Missouri, finding support in unexpected places—pastors, ministers, and community members who showed up for us. These connections remind us that support exists even where we may not expect it, building on our vision of a Missouri where every TGNC person, regardless of background or zip code, is valued and thriving.
To our allies: we need more than words. True allyship requires action. Stand with us—volunteer with trans-led organizations, support us with donations, join us in Jefferson City to stand against anti-LGBTQ+ bills, and be there for the most vulnerable among us. Actions speak louder than words, and every step you take with us helps create a safer, more inclusive Missouri.
No matter the challenges or political outcomes, we know that our community will still be here—strong and resilient, supporting one another. This message is from us, for us, and is meant to remind every TGNC person in Missouri that they’re not alone. We carry the strength and legacy of those who came before us, and as we continue forward, we do so with resilience, pride, and an unwavering commitment to each other.
In solidarity,
PROMO’s TGNC+ Staff and Board
