Monday, November 20 is Transgender Day of Remembrance. In 2017 alone, there have been 25 transgender murders, that we know about, including two right here in Missouri (Kiwi Herring and Ally Lee Steinfeld). PROMO commits to working with our national and local partners to train law enforcement on the experiences of LGBT individuals and families and to partner with media on reporting transgender people accurately and with dignity. We are calling on the media to report each and every transgender murder that happens. We must show the public the heartbreaking epidemic happening in this country.
The majority of those killed are transgender women of color. Check out this report from Mic to learn more.
Join us as we remember each and every one of their names.
