Transgender Missourians Are Being Targeted

On Friday, August 25, St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Steven Russell Ohmer denied a preliminary injunction against Senate Bill 49, which revokes access to gender-affirming healthcare for some minors and adults. This ruling means the law takes effect as scheduled on Monday, August 28. We want to hear from the community on how this law is impacting you particularly if one of the following is true:

    • You are a trans adult who received gender-affirming healthcare as a minor who can speak to the ethics of care given to you.
    • You are a trans adult who is receiving medicaid (MOHealthNet) and had their gender-affirming healthcare interrupted.

As Senate Bill 39 and 49 go into effect, we are currently collecting stories of harm, bias or discrimination experienced by trans+ Missourians as a result of these hateful bills. We will employ your stories in effort to reduce harm and to mitigate the violence of the Missouri State Legislature, Governor Parson, and the unelected Attorney General Bailey.

Your story will be used by PROMO and PROMO Fund in various ways. Should you have any questions, please reach out to promo@promomissouri.org.
