The statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organization sits on the campaign’s executive committee as the leading policy voices for LGBTQ+ Missourians
MISSOURI (Dec. 3, 2025) — PROMO, Missouri’s LGBTQ+ public policy and advocacy organization, joined the Stop the Ban Missouri campaign as a member of its executive committee with a $100,000 financial contribution. The coalition of grassroots organizations also includes Abortion Action Missouri, ACLU of Missouri, Action St. Louis, Beacon Reproductive Health, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers Action, and the Fairness Project. Together, the group of advocates aims to defend Missourians’ right to abortion, reproductive healthcare, and healthcare for trans youth.
“We joined this campaign to meaningfully bring to the table the voices of trans leaders, the self-interest of trans and gender-expansive Missourians, and the input of parents of trans youth,” said Shira Berkowitz, senior director of public policy and advocacy. “Lawmakers are willing to use the lives and livelihoods of trans and queer people to overturn the will of the people to get them to vote against their own self-interests and we won’t stand for it.”
PROMO is extremely familiar with the attacks on LGBTQ+ Missourians. In the last decade, over 300 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced, yet only four have become law. The new Amendment 3 makes Missouri the first state in the country to send a constitutional amendment to the ballot that asks voters to take away access to essential healthcare from trans youth and their families.
“We have an opportunity in Missouri — our state can become a model for liberation or a warning to the rest of the country,” said Katy Erker-Lynch, executive director of PROMO. “A win in Missouri means we can shift what’s possible everywhere. We know their playbook. We also have our own.”

“No matter the color of your skin, what you do for a living, or what gender you know yourself to be, Missourians agree we all deserve the freedom to access the healthcare we need when we need it,” said Courtney Cook, field director for PROMO. “Politicans and our government have no business controlling our bodies, our families, and our lives.”
