Protest for Trans Rights
B-Roll Opportunities: Speakers from Multiple Organizations & LGBTQ+ Missouri Caucus including legislators from both House and Senate
WHAT: The “Protest for Trans Rights” is a protest organized by PROMO and its coalition partners in response to the passage of Senate Bills 39, a ban on transgender kids playing team sports, and SB 49, a ban on gender-affirming care for minors. A full list of speakers in order, a timeline of the protest, a comprehensive list of all organization’s media spokespeople, and more will be made available to the press who plan to attend. For those interested in receiving the media kit, a media check-in will be available at the event with a print out and digital versions sent to journalist’s emails.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. (buses from Kansas City, Springfield, and St. Louis will arrive at 2 p.m. meaning the protest will begin officially at 2:30 p.m.)

ST. LOUIS (March 27, 2023) — The Missouri Senate passed two pieces of anti-trans legislation on Thursday, March 23 that now head to the House: SB 39, a ban on transgender kids playing team sports, and SB 49, a ban on gender-affirming care for minors. PROMO, Missouri’s LGBTQ+ public policy and advocacy organization, responded on the same day by announcing a scheduled protest with coalition partners. The “Protest for Trans Rights” takes place on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at the Missouri State Capitol on the front steps and lawn is in partnership with the ACLU of Missouri, Clergy & Faith Leaders from across the Region, Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, Holy Communion Episcopal Church, Jewish Community Relations Council, Kansas City Center For Inclusion, Metro Trans Umbrella Group, Missouri Family Health Council, Inc., MO Ho Justice, Missouri Equity Education Partnership, National Council of Jewish Women STL, PFLAG Greater St. Louis, PFLAG of the Central Region, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, Planned Parenthood of the Great Plains, Pro Choice Missouri, St. Louis Queer+ Support Helpline (SQSH), STL LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce, Transformations, TransParent, and Youth In Need.
